Hepatica Nobilis - Sinivuokko

This little flower is pretty rare this far north but I know one place where they grow. There has been a garden ages ago and this hepatica is what is left of it.

Sinivuokot eivät ole kovin yleisiä näillä leveysasteilla, tämäkin kukkii paikassa missä on joskus ollut puutarha.

Today I made a little walk at the seaside nearby. Gray day and flat light was quite a challenge for shooting but trip itself was quite nice. 


Tnään kävin kuvauskävelyllä Nallikarin rantapusikossa. Jonkun sortin haaste kuvata kun päivä on harmaa ja valo latteaa muuten oli kyllä aivan mukavaa.

Year ago - Vuosi sitten

Exactly a year ago there was already green leaves in black cherry (Prunus padus), but not in this year, there is not a hint of green in trees yet.

Päivälleen vuosi sitten tuomessa oli jo lehdet mutta tänä vuonna ei vielä viherrä yhtään ei.

Today has been first really cold day on this autumn, only +3 C and windy and now it's raining too.

Tänään on ollut syksyn ensimmäinen oikeasti kylmä päivä, vain +3 C, tuulee ja nyt jo sataakin.

Scentless mayweed - Saunakukka

With these late autumn flowers, which I just photo shoot on my way home, I like to wish a nice weekend for you all! This flower is very good in this purpose because it is sauna flower in Finnish and sauna is so important part of spending Finnish weekend.

Näiden saunakukkien myötä, jotka juuri äsken kuvasin kotimatkalla, toivotan kaikille leppoisaa viikonloppua! Saunakukka on tarkoitukseen erityisen sopiva, sauna kun on suomalaisille niin tärkeä osa viikonlopun viettoa.

After a most dry summer in a hundred years it was no use to go to woods to pick mushrooms as I usually do in end of summer and early autumn. These beauties I found today on my way to downtown.

Sataan vuoteen kuivimman kesän jälkeen ei ole ollut juuri syytä lähteä sienestysretkille. Nämä kaunokaiset löytyivät tänään Pikisaaresta matkalla keskustaan.

Wood Anemones

Today I saw first time in Oulu wood anemones and of course I share the joy with you. Near by is Priki park and wood anemones is blooming now.

Following text is from information board at the park:
"Priki Park, growing in its natural state, is situated in the middle of the housing blocks and is connected to the green zones of Toppilansaari and the Oulu River Delta via Lundström Park.
Priki Park is constructed by hand to protect the vegetation. Management aims to maintain the rare habitat of the wood anemone, the versatile vegetation and the trees."

(While I was lying on the ground taking photos some kids came and ask what I was doing. Their opinion about flower photographs was that it’s totally misuse of good camera and quite silly too.)

New leaves

I tried today catch up that pointillist impression of new birch leaves, but it was much difficult than I expected. My best shot was this one, and there is no birch but hagberry instead. I think those leafs look like bright butterflies in forest.
